The fiber itself works as a scalpel. The diameter is 600 microns which is very flexible. Insert the fiber through a fiber holder so that you can better manipulate the fiber tip like a scalpel. The small tubing portion is malleable.
You will be amazed to see the difference when the fiber tip is processed, or gconditionedh by the Fiber Pot. The conditioned fiber delivers a laser beam from its side, rather than from its tip. Now, it works perfectly as a fiber scalpel. For example, you can complete the claw removal with only a 2.5 – 3.5 W output of laser power. Keeping the power low is the key to minimizing the damage of the surrounding tissue.
Generally the laser beam travels straight forward after it leaves the fiber end.
Processed the fiber tip in the Fiber Pot.
The fiber tip is conditioned so that the laser beam is now scatters around and the fiber will act as a sharp fiber scalpel.
